HIRAETH
photographs in water
14 x 7 x 9 inches
Hiraeth is an emotional longing for a home you cannot return to because it never was. The photographs of empty house interiors drowned in a tank of water accompanies the solidarity tones of the soundscapes where the audience will hear through a pair of headphones as a subversive, intimate experience into the artist's personal life. The photographs are submerged in water as a defence mechanism to disable viewers from touching or looking too clearly and closely at the domestic spaces.
SELF PORTRAIT
images to video
Taking the self portrait to a 4D level, the artist stitched several images of her daily living to make a single gif that plays on loop. The colour balance and saturation is set at maximum, with single white screens playing at every 0.5 millisecond.

"I will not hate you because the hatred my heart holds would harbour poison straight into my veins and I will become just as you have became."
Inspired by parent-children disconnect, the artist takes the typical Asian helicopter parenting style to depict how normalised yet uncomfortable it is to grow and live on being constantly surveilled.
"I guess I do understand the love you have given me; I have been giving the same to another."
